Laser processing

The consumption of water and energy used in current dyeing and finishing processes in the textile industry, poses significant environmental concern. By offering alternative solutions to traditional textile wet processing through dry laser technology, there is the potential to increase environmental sustainability.

Current research has investigated laser interaction with textile materials to develop innovative design techniques for enhanced colouration and moulding for textile surface design.

Each of the digitally controlled laser techniques deliver targeted, accurate, non-contact processing. They can cater for bespoke or short run production offering a unique aesthetic. The laser allows designs to be applied on finished products and across garment seams. This dry process can reduce not only energy, water and chemical consumption but also waste water pollution.
