The latest agreement to become the club’s Official Higher Education Partner builds on four years of two great Leicester institutions working together.
Leicester City has challenged convention on their road to Premier League glory, an ethos which DMU holds dearly.
Current students and graduates are also exploring employment opportunities with the club as they pave their careers. Staff and students also reap the benefits of exclusive ticket giveaways.
Leicester Riders Basketball Club
De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) is honoured to have a partnership with 4-time British Basketball League (BBL) champions, Leicester Riders. The university has been working with the club since the 16/17 season, with the partnership providing a whole host of opportunities for both DMU staff and students.
As part of the partnership, DMU's Women's Basketball team, the DMU Pitbulls receive fantastic coaching from the Leicester Riders. They also train and play their BUCS home games at Leicester Arena which is where the Leicester Riders train and compete. All of DMU’s basketball teams, both men’s and women’s, benefit from receiving player talks and discounted tickets from the Leicester Riders.
Thanks to this collaboration, DMU can run prize draws for every Leicester Riders home game meaning that both DMU staff and students can win free tickets. DMU staff can also get discounted tickets to Leicester Rider home games by using the discount code DMUSTAFF30.

Leicester Tigers Rugby Football Club
De Montfort University has a unique partnership with Leicester Tigers, a Premiership rugby club renowned around the world. DMU and Tigers are working together to benefit students and staff at the university, and the club in Britain and internationally.
DMU reap several benefits from Tigers, including Tigers providing tickets to DMU students and staff on a regular basis. Providing DMU with regular involvement in events such as the Big Boot. They are also the hosts of the annual Men’s and Women’s Varsity games which see a showdown between student teams from DMU and the University of Leicester at Welford Road.
Leicester Ladies Hockey Club
De Montfort University and Leicester Hockey Club have been formally working together to develop the hockey offer both at the University and more widely in the city, since 2014, with the first sponsorship of the then Leicester Ladies Hockey Club team shirts. LHC’s Women’s 1st Team compete within the Investec National League and considered one of the best Women’s Hockey teams in the country.
As part of the partnership LHC provide both coaching infrastructure to DMU’s Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams as well as access to their rapidly developing facilities. LHC and DMU continue to work closely together to increase the capacity and playing opportunities in hockey for DMU students, as well as adding value to the overall programmes of LHC including their Youth Academy, development of Men’s programmes and community inclusion activity. This strong relationship offers a unique opportunity for DMU students to gain access and support to a top-quality hockey club.
Leicester City County Cricket
De Montfort University (DMU) has extended its partnership with Leicestershire County Cricket Club (LCCC) growing our relationship with Leicester’s professional cricket team. Through our partnership DMU students will have opportunities to volunteer with cricket projects lead by LCCC community team, join the DMUSport cricket to be coached by LCCC coaches, and actively be a part of the Foxes Family with LCCC providing tickets for DMU students and staff to attend each T-20 home fixtures.
DMU is excited that since Autumn 2019 it has been the sponsor for the Girls Cricket Academy development pathway at LCCC. Helping to promote the opportunities for girls to learn and play in cricket in Leicestershire. The annual summer T20 showcase of Leicester’s two universities will continue to be scheduled for Grace Road for 1st teams.
