Student Graduations Statement
After careful and lengthy consideration of multiple factors, including the Government’s four-step roadmap out of lockdown and ongoing uncertainty around how mass events might be able to operate safely in the summer months, the university, like many other universities, has now taken the difficult decision to delay July 2021 graduation ceremonies until the autumn at the earliest.
Our commitment is to provide a memorable DMU graduation day experience at the safest possible time to do so; were we to go ahead in July it would likely be a very small event and that isn’t the experience we are committed to giving you.
We are assessing a variety of scenarios in order to ensure you have an exciting graduation, and information on arrangements for ceremonies will be shared in the coming weeks via the usual channels when we have more certainty.
We recognise this is a decision that will be disappointing for many, but the safety of our students, their families and friends, and all in the DMU community had to be our priority. This delay means we will be able to get a clearer picture on restrictions on public gatherings, social distancing and travel. We want to give you the sort of graduation experience you deserve after this most challenging of years, not a compromised one.
We also want to assure all graduates of summer 2020 and January 2021 that you are not forgotten – and you will also receive the opportunity of an in-person graduation celebration event that friends and family will be able to attend in the future.

Issuing of Degree Certificates
Please be aware that the COVID-19 pandemic has temporarily suspended normal production of degree certificates because staff are currently working remotely in accordance with Government guidance.
Our aim is to return to campus as soon as it is safe to do so and resume certificate printing; priority will be given to certificates for awards conferred from September to December 2020. Therefore please note there is a large backlog of certificates to produce and as staff will return to an adapted working environment with reduced capacity, this unfortunately will delay our standard turnaround times for printing certificates.
Certificates will be posted to your permanent home address held on your student record. If you no longer have access to this record via MYDMU and believe that your permanent address has changed please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please ensure that you state your PNumber, name and course.
Please note: we cannot offer a collection service in person.
