January 2021 Graduation Ceremonies

After careful consideration, the university has taken the difficult decision to postpone our Winter graduation ceremonies, planned to take place in January 2021.

At DMU, our graduation ceremonies are a unique and premium experience and it is with great reluctance that we have made this decision. The health and safety of our students, guests, staff and wider community are an absolute priority and the ongoing uncertainties and restrictions concerning travel and indoor gatherings are such that we cannot plan and safely operate the Winter ceremonies. Many of our students and their guests are also likely to be prevented from attending their ceremony due to regional restrictions.

We continue to closely monitor government guidelines and will update this page with further information about our plans for ceremonies as soon as we are able to.

Thank you for your continuing patience and understanding.

Celebrating the Class of 2020

Following the postponement of the Summer graduation ceremonies in July 2020 online celebration events paying tribute to the Class of 2020 students graduating took place in August.  We're incredibly proud of the remarkable resilience and tenacity all our students have shown, to not only achieve their degrees, but overcome the adversity a global pandemic has brought. All of our summer 2020 graduates have worked hard, displayed extraordinary determination and talent, and all would have had their highs and lows, their hopes and doubts, their setbacks and successes.

If you wish to view the online celebrations and messages of congratulations from across the University as well as alumni and honorands for each Faculty please select the relevant Faculty below:

Please be aware that your HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report) will be available from the 31st of July onwards. This report is an electronic document of your official academic transcript of your study at De Montfort University.  It confirms your registration with us, the start and end dates of your programme, overall results, module results and any additional information that you may have accomplished. This is stamped with the University seal.

Please see the following link for more information on HEAR.

As a verified and secure way of documenting your achievements, this will provide the evidence that you require and can be shared with employers, government agencies or Universities. This should be used whilst you are waiting for your certificate to be issued to you.

If your employer, university or government agency requires confirmation of the validity of the HEAR, please ask them to contact directly to confirm this.
