Nominate an individual for an honorary award 1

Do you have a professional role model? Is there someone who has distinguished themselves in their career and has made an outstanding contribution to our society?

We are inviting all students and alumni to nominate an individual for an honorary award from DMU.

What is an honorary award?

Put simply, it’s an award that universities present to an individual who has excelled in their career, improved the lives of people in the community, or has achieved remarkable accomplishments in their personal lives.

Most importantly, their impact will represent our core values as a university: compassion, courage and empowerment.

These awards are presented annually to a handful of people during our graduation ceremonies.

Recently, we have honoured Pawlet Brookes MBE, Jonathan Northcroft, Joanna Scanlan and Bhanu Mehta for their outstanding contributions to the promotion and support of Black Arts within the city of Leicester, sports journalism, television, film, theatre and radio, and public health, respectively.

How to nominate someone

If you have read this and someone comes to mind, we’d love to hear more about them.

Please email internal.comms@dmu.ac.uk requesting the nomination form and we will send you all the information you need.

Please note that your nomination must receive support from the CEO of the Students’ Union. More information about this can be found in the nomination form above.

The final decision sits with Vice-Chancellor Professor Katie Normington. If you are nominating an individual, it must be treated in the strictest confidence and you can’t inform the individual that you have nominated them.

You cannot nominate a present member of the DMU Community, staff or student.

For more information, or for any queries, please contact the Governance Office at clerksoffice@dmu.ac.uk.
