Student Engagement and Student Disengagement
Reasons, explanations and a way forward
DMU's Annual Learning & Teaching Conference was held on Wednesday 11 September 2019 at De Montfort University.
This conference brought together our educators, researchers and practitioners to exchange and share practices and pedagogy on all issues concerning Student Engagement and Disengagement in Higher Education (HE). It also provided a platform to present and discuss our most recent innovations, trends and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted to engage the disengaged.
We had a Keynote Address from Dr Alex Buckley, Senior Learning Enhancement Adviser, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow:
"Why there is confusion about the concept of student engagement, and why that's a problem for practice as well as policy".
The conference consisted of workshops, presentations, debates and poster stands. Please see further details below.
