Credibility interview

DMU holds credibility interviews to help to confirm that you are a genuine student and can demonstrate that you:

  • Have researched your course
  • Have researched DMU
  • Have researched living in the UK
  • Have researched accommodation
  • Are able to provide detailed information on your financial status.
Watch our guide on how and when to make your booking, and what you need to do to prepare for your interview.

When you register with DMU, we will store a copy of your credibility interview and may refer back to it in the future in order to ensure that your post-registration arrangements (such as your term-time living arrangements) are consistent with your pre-registration plans.

See our guide for Student visa applications.

Frequently asked questions

  1. My booking form will not submit, what do I do?

Ensure all questions have been answered, the form cannot be submitted unless all questions have been completed.
  2. My booking has been cancelled, why is this?

If your booking is cancelled you will receive an email confirmation to the email address you used to make the booking. Please read this email as it will have the reason for cancellation noted there and instruction for any further action.
  3. I can no longer attend my scheduled booking, what do I do?

If you can no longer attend your appointment, you must cancel this on the bookings site. You can do this by following the ‘reschedule’ link on your confirmation email which you received when you made your booking. You can either cancel the booking entirely or select reschedule and confirm a new date and time. Do not create another booking until you have cancelled the one you can no longer attend.
  4. I do not have my passport with me, can I still attend the interview?

No, you cannot attend your credibility interview unless you have your original documentation with you. If you do not have your passport, you must reschedule your appointment for a time and date that you will have the document with you.
  5. I do not have a Skype account, can I still make a booking?

You will need to create a Skype account before you can make a booking, this is because we require your unique Skype ID in order to create the booking. If you do not enter this correctly, we will be un able to take your interview.

You may find the ‘blur’ effect is automatically turned on in your Skype settings. This must be removed in order to conduct your interview. To remove the blur or any other effects, go to your Skype settings and under the 'Audio & Video' section you will need to select ‘none’ on the 'Choose background effect' section. If you are unsure on how to do this please use Google to search for instruction.
