GP Registration
It is important to register with a GP whilst you are at DMU. You can find a list of GP practices near you through the NHS webpages.
De Montfort Surgery
De Montfort Surgery is on campus and is an NHS general practitioners’ surgery which provides medical care for students and local residents who live within the practice boundary. You can check whether you are eligible to join the practice by entering your postcode on the Practice website.
What to do before you arrive
To ensure you have access to NHS treatment we ask that you submit your patient registration form 2 to 3 weeks before arriving in Leicester. You can now register online at the De Montfort Surgery.
If you take regular medication, please arrange to bring at least 2 months supply with you from your current GP.
We will send you a text message to confirm your registration with us. If you have not received a confirmation text within 10 working days of submitting your registration request, please contact us on 0116 222 7272.
What to do and what to expect once you're registered
When registered at the practice and you take regular medication, please book a telephone consultation with a clinician to review your medication and have your regular items added to your repeat prescription list and medical record. Please telephone 0116 222 7272 and speak to a member of our friendly reception team to book an appointment. In order to direct you to the most appropriate clinician we will ask you for a brief description of the problem you need treatment for.
Due to coronavirus all appointments are by telephone in the first instance. If, after the initial telephone consultation a clinician has booked a face to face appointment with you please ensure you attend on time wearing a mask / face covering.
