De Montfort University’s recreational sport and fitness programme, DMUactive, is looking to recruit 50 student volunteers into Activator roles for the new academic year.
The department is recruiting 27 Activators to run the weekly DMUactive sessions and 23 Activators to run DMU’s intra mural leagues, known as Active Leagues.
The vacancies span across a variety of different sports and range from leading sessions to officiating DMU’s Active Leagues.
Students receive several benefits as DMUactive volunteers, including:

Training and sport specific courses, such as coaching and refereeing

Organisation, leadership and teamwork skills.
Alongside this you will be supporting DMUsport by providing free sessions for hundreds of students and staff.

Emilie Fairnington, Sport Project Coordinator (Participation) said: “The DMUactive Volunteering academy is a fantastic initiative to get involved with while studying at DMU as it allows you to develop a range of skills which will help you in your future career.
“While studying Forensic Science at DMU, I was a basketball Activator and led the weekly recreational basketball sessions. By volunteering in the role, it provided me with so many brilliant opportunities, allowed me to gain my coaching qualification, grow the sport that I am passionate about and meet so many amazing people.
“I would recommend to any DMU student who is interested in a role to apply, you can study any course and still volunteer with DMUactive!”

The deadline for applications is Sunday 31 May 2020, with all roles starting in September 2020.
