English for Academic Success during your degree

Calling all international students!

Join English for Academic Success (EfAS), our free academic English and study skills course.

We provide undergraduate and postgraduate groups:

Weekly live classes
Weekly self-study materials and video
Bookable one-to-one help sessions

EfAS classes:

Our classes begin the week commencing 22 April 2024.

One-to-one sessions:

We have face-to-face and online slots available throughout the week. If you need to book a 30-minute one-to-one assignment help session, email us separately at englishlanguage@dmu.ac.uk.

More information on English for Academic Success

English for Academic Success (EfAS) is the Centre for English Language Learning's English language support programme for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

We can provide you with an 6-week course in academic English which takes place on days and times to suit your timetable.

We also provide self-study materials and videos covering a range of academic English topics (see below for topics).

Classes can also contain group discussions on a range of issues to help boost your confidence in seminar and other speaking skills useful for your ongoing course.

Academic writing style
Reference and citation – Harvard System
Summarising
Paraphrasing
Avoiding plagiarism
Paragraph structure and text cohesion
Writing introductions and conclusions
Giving a presentation
Academic writing – hedging and stance
Group discussion on a range of topics
