DMU Money Advice (within Student Finance and Welfare) offer a variety of appointments to suit your needs. Most appointments can be booked via the Student Gateway, on MyGateway or by emailing

Quick Query

If you wish to book a Quick Query, these can either be booked on the day or in advance. These are 15-minute diagnostic appointments. If your query cannot be resolved at this appointment you will be offered a longer Money Doctor appointment, or Welfare Officer appointment.

Money Doctor appointments

Money Doctor appointments are an opportunity to review your finances. These appointments can be used to speak to an advisor about money management, budgeting and to investigate student funding issues with Student Finance England (SFE) or the NHS.

We continue to offer phone appointments (as well as some face-to-face), so if you book a phone appointment and would like us to contact SFE on your behalf, please set up 'Consent-to-Share' so we can call them on your behalf. You can now do this via your online account, we have created information on how to set up SFE consent-to-share via your online account, which provides step-by-step instructions on how to do it. Or alternatively you can call SFE on 0300 100 0607 and give them the following information:

  • University: De Montfort University
  • Relationship: Higher Education Provider
  • Password: Welfare.

When it's set up, send an email to and confirm this has been done using the above details. Please also give us:

  • Your name and P Number
  • Your SFE Customer Reference Number
  • Your chosen password (if not using our suggestion).

The Welfare Officers are available for a range of financial welfare issues, including money management, housing concerns and benefits. Appointments with Welfare Officers can only be booked via members of staff.
