International Welcome Week

International Welcome Week will take place from Tuesday 19 to Friday 22 September 2023, and coincides with in-person registration appointments for international students. It’s a great opportunity to settle in before the start of your course, get advice on living and studying in the UK and meet staff and other new students.

The week will include:

  • In-person information and advice on topics such as healthcare, opening a bank account, study skills and working in the UK
  • Tours of the campus and city of Leicester
  • Social events, including ten pin bowling and other activities to help you meet other new students
  • The opportunity to book onto an optional day trip to Oxford on Friday 22 September.

We are no longer taking email registrations for International Welcome Week, however the full schedule is now available to download

You can just drop-in to most sessions, though please note that some activities require pre-booking. Links to activities being run by Students' Union (DSU) are available on the DSU website. There are a limited number of places still available for the Oxford Walking Tour (on Friday).

What happens if you miss International Welcome Week? Don't worry! We'll be running in-person orientation sessions in October, which will cover many of the key topics, such as healthcare and opening a bank account. Look out for further information from your faculty about these sessions; additionally, you can find lots of information about arriving, living and studying at DMU in the International Student Guide. There will also be a large-scale Welcome event for new international students, later in October.
