The scholarship will cover full tuition fees and provide access to a network and resources such as mentoring programmes and internships.

Students will need to have secured a place on their course at DMU and apply directly to the Aziz Foundation for the scholarship.

Applications are open from now until 28 March for the first cycle, with a second cycle open from 2 April until 14 June.

The scholarships are an amazing opportunity and available for up to three postgraduate students per year with a focus on the following career areas:

• Media and Journalism – candidates who wish to champion diversity in the media to ensure fairer and more accurate reporting.

• Technology – disrupters and innovators who use technology to offer novel and transformational solutions to society’s most pressing challenges.

• Sustainability/environment – candidates who wish to be at the forefront of the fight to save the planet and ensure a safer future for generations to come.

• Law – candidates who hold high aspirations to excel in the legal profession and especially those who wish to become judges (excluding conversion courses).

• Policy – candidates with a passion for influencing public policy (excluding health policy) in the UK, to ensure that it is equitable and responsive to the needs of British Muslim communities.

• Arts and culture – creatives who can influence public discourses, especially around Muslims and Islam, through a variety of mediums.

• Sports – candidates who are enthusiastic about sporting excellence and can make key contributions, through administration and management, to the industry.

Imam Mohammed Laher, the Imam and Muslim Chaplain at DMU said: “DMU’s commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment through our widening participation team’s work, pairs perfectly with the ethos of the Aziz Foundation. We are delighted that, through this scheme, we will be able to support several British Muslim students, who otherwise would not be able to do so, to achieve a master’s degree with us.”

The Aziz Foundation is a family Foundation that supports the social mobility of British Muslim communities through its scholarships and internships programmes.
