Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, part of DMU's Careers Team for students and graduates, is bringing TEDx back to the university, and you could be part of the working group!

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = an independently organized TED event.

TEDxDemontfortU will run for a third time, following two successful events.

The first, a female-specific TEDxWomen event, took place on campus in the Venue in 2019. It featured a number of talks from students, graduates, staff and the general public – and speakers included BBC Asian Network presenter and Author Sonya Barlow and DMU graduate Bushra Zafar. It was hosted by entrepreneurial DMU alumni, Jane Hearst.

The event was followed in 2020 by an online event which took place during lockdown. Hosted by DMU's Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Manager, Simon Baines, it featured talks on digital innovation in entrepreneurship.

Talks from both events have received thousands of views.

Any DMU student, graduate or member of staff interested in joining the working group for the next conference, can contact the team.

Applications for potential speakers will open later in the year.
