Planned strike action to start on Thursday 20 February

The University and College Union (UCU) have held a national ballot and will be asking its members who are academic staff at 74 institutions, including DMU, to take strike action for 14 days starting on Thursday 20 February.

UCU have announced they intend to strike on the below dates:

  • Week one – Thursday 20 and Friday 21 February
  • Week two – No ‘all out’ strike action planned
  • Week three – Monday 2, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Thursday 4 and Friday 6 March
  • Week four – Monday 9, Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11, Thursday 12 and Friday 13 March
  • Week five – Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 March.

We would like to reassure you that we are working hard to avoid or minimise disruption to your studies as much as possible and we are in close communications with De Montfort University Students’ Union (DSU) to ensure there is the right support available. During this period, please:

  • continue to attend timetabled events unless you hear otherwise
  • utilise physical and online resources (Blackboard, the Library, Labs, etc.)

We understand this will be an unsettling time for you and you may have many questions on how this may impact your studies and learning outcomes, so we have created a list of FAQs to address these as best we can at this stage. Click here to read the FAQs.
