How to apply to postgraduate study at De Montfort University

We’re delighted you’re considering applying for postgraduate study at DMU. Whether you are from the UK or overseas, below you can find all the information you need to complete your application, including how to apply to LLM courses.

  1. Current DMU students – UK and overseas applicants (or those who have graduated since 2015)

    To apply to study a postgraduate course (full-time or part-time) you can apply using the following options:

    Option 1: Visit MyDMU and apply through the ‘New Course Application’ tile.

    Option 2: Complete a writable PDF postgraduate application form and email it to admissions@dmu.ac.uk.

    What to include

    The following should be submitted with the application form:

    • One current reference on official headed paper or from a professional email address. This can be a work or academic reference and must be signed and recently dated. Our Admissions team will not be contacting your referees for references, references can either be attached with the application form or sent directly to admissions@dmu.ac.uk. Please include your full name, date of birth and your Student ID/UCAS ID number if known.
    • Copies of your academic transcripts
    • Copies of your degree or diploma certificates
    • Your personal statement (if you're applying for a pharmacy course, please include your GPhC number)
    • Some of our creative courses may ask for a portfolio. Read our portfolio advice to find out how to make yours stand out

    It is important that you send this information to us as soon as possible.

  2. New to DMU – UK and overseas applicants (or those who have graduated pre-2015)

    To apply to study a postgraduate course (full-time or part-time) you can apply using the following options:

    Option 1: Apply via the DMU Online Portal. This method allows you to save, revisit and review your application before submitting it at any time of the day.

    Option 2: Complete a writable PDF postgraduate application form and email it to admissions@dmu.ac.uk.

  3. LLM courses

    If you are applying for one of our postgraduate law courses, depending on the course, you’ll apply directly to DMU or to the appropriate professional institution. More information about how to apply can be found on the course pages.
