After you apply

You’ve submitted your application to DMU – great! Here’s what happens next.

If you’re an international student, the process is slightly different. Take a look at our guide to find out more.

Your offer-holder timeline

1. Your application is reviewed

We’ll review your application, including your predicted grades and personal statement. We’ll then let you know if we can make you an offer.

Depending on the course you’ve applied for, you may need to complete an additional step before you receive your offer. This could include:

  • Attending an interview
  • Taking part in an audition
  • Submitting a portfolio

Keep an eye on your UCAS Hub for updates and any actions you need to take.

2. Check your offer status

Once your application is reviewed, you’ll see one of these outcomes:

  • Conditional offer: You’ll be accepted if you meet the entry criteria.

  • Unconditional offer: You already meet (or exceed) the entry requirements. Accepting this guarantees your place if you make us your firm choice.
  • Alternative course: We may offer you a place on a similar course that better matches your qualifications and experience.
  • Unsuccessful: Your application was not accepted. You’ll be able to see the reason in UCAS Hub or directly from the university.

3. Make a decision on your offer

Received all your offers?

If you’ve received all your offers, head to UCAS Hub to choose your Firm and Insurance choices, and start making your plans for DMU.

Still waiting for all your offers?

If you're still waiting to hear from other universities, there’s no need to make your final decision yet.

Key dates to respond to your offer

• 5 May: Deadline to respond to your offer (if received by 31 March)

• 2 June: Deadline to respond to your offer (if received by 12 May)

• 21 July: Deadline to respond to your offer (if received by 14 July)

4. Get your finances sorted

You should apply for student finance as soon as possible so your funding is ready for the start of term.

Applications for 2027/28

If you’re starting an undergraduate course in September 2027, you’ll apply for student finance through the new Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) system. Find out more about LLE.

You do not need a confirmed place to apply. You can use your preferred university choice and update it later if your plans change.

5. Start thinking about accommodation

Accommodation bookings open in March, so now’s a great time to explore your options, decide where you’d like to live and find your new home.
