Additional accommodation contract considerations

Be sure to check the yearly charge as well as the weekly charge because some contracts are longer than others..

If you confirm your room booking, it is a legally binding commitment to pay for the whole contract length.

The following halls require rent payments prior to arrival:

  • Applegate Place
  • Filbert Village
  • The Glassworks
  • The Grange
  • Castle Court
  • Rose House
  • Liberty Park
  • Merlin Heights
  • Newarke Point
  • St Martins House

The amounts vary depending on which hall you choose, from £245 - £3,149 please check individual hall pages for the instalment dates and amounts.

You do not need a guarantor for DMU owned/managed halls, but private providers will request one. If you do not have a guarantor you could have to pay the full annual rent upfront (as well as things like booking payments and damage deposits) before you can move in (see specific tenancy agreements).

Your student loan is not usually be deposited until after you have enrolled on your course. Contact our Student Finance and Welfare team at  sfw@dmu.ac.uk if you need advice on paying accommodation fees in advance.

See here for payment by debit or credit card.

Late payment charges

If you are staying in DMU owned and managed halls, there are no late payment charges.

If the debt is eventually pursued through the courts, you could be liable for costs.

Any outstanding debts to private providers could incur charges.
