Free Meningitis B vaccination offer for DMU students

The vaccinations team will be offering walk-in clinics on campus for first year students from 24 to 30 September.

The NHS is offering a time-limited FREE Meningitis B vaccination programme for eligible students on campus (doses 1 and 2). This vaccine helps protect against Meningococcal B bacteria, which can cause meningitis and septicaemia. 

To help our students access this more easily, we are offering a series of pop-up clinics here at DMU: 

Clinic dates: 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30 September 2026 
Time: 10am–5pm each day 
Location: Hawthorne Building, Room HB 2.24 

The clinics will be a walk-in service, no appointment necessary. Eligibility will be checked before vaccination.

Eligibility 

You may be eligible if you are under 25 (born on or after 21/07/2001) and: 

• Starting your first year at the university, including after a gap year, or 

• Will be a residential student for the first time, i.e. living in student accommodation or halls of residence, or 

• An international student entering your first year of university. 

Second dose 

You will need two doses of the vaccine for protection. The second dose is usually given at least 28 days after the first dose. We will be announcing the second dose clinic dates soon.  

This is a limited-time offer, so students are encouraged to attend as soon as possible. 

If you have already received your first dose, please let the vaccination team know so they can advise about your second dose. 

I received a vaccine at school 

The vaccine you would have received at school in the UK (MenACWY) does not protect against Meningitis B, so you will still need this vaccination to be protected against the disease.
