Are you a current DMU student or recent graduate interested in freelancing in creative industries? DMU Made has a free four-week programme, which includes workshops, co-working sessions and one-to-one support, launching next week.

The 60-minute workshops will take place at LCB Depot, in the Heart of Leicester’s Cultural Quarter, and feature a range of creative industries guests and experts. The first session is on Wednesday 4 March.

The programme is limited to 20 spaces, with each participant receiving a £200 DMU Made start-up grant to spend as they choose. To be eligible you will need to have registered as self-employed since July 2025, or have started this process.

Most of the programme spaces have been filled, so register now to avoid disappointment.

Registering as a sole trader on gov.uk is free, fast and easy, and the DMU Made team can help you through the process. Email dmumade@dmu.ac.uk or book a one-to-one appointment with DMU Made via MyGateway to get started!

Sole Trader status can significantly boost your credibility amongst potential and current customers by acting as a ‘trust signal’. For instance, a 2019 TrustPilot report showed that 66% of consumers are more likely to purchase a product if a Trust Signal is visible.

Visit the DMU Made website for more information and to register your interest.
