DMU Made has launched the 2026 STEM Business Challenge for current HLS students, in partnership with RandalSun Capital.

Over an action-packed two weeks in the New Year, up to 100 students will work in small project teams to solve a cutting-edge STEM-based challenge (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Teams will get the chance to present to an expert panel of judges, and those with the best solutions will pocket a share of the £2,000prize fund.

DMU created the challenge event last year to help HLS students sharpen their entrepreneurial mindsets and problem-solving abilities. DMU’s Dr Arinzechukwu, Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences and Academic Lead/Project Coordinator, said:

“The STEM Business Challenge will empower students to think like entrepreneurial scientists and apply their creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork to real-world problems. It’s a chance to turn ideas into real-world impact.”

The STEM Business challenge follows in the footsteps of DMU Made’s popular STEM-based ‘Hackathon’ in May 2025, which saw around 80 DMU Computing, Engineering and Media students and recent graduates compete for a similar prize fund.

Sign up and get ready…

Visit the DMU Made website to sign up now – places are free but strictly limited and are expected to go very quickly.

Participating students will need to attend two free sessions in the Kimberlin Library, on 8 and 15 January, to be eligible for a share of the prize fund.

DMU Made enables students and graduates to develop freelancing and entrepreneurial skills through free competitions, programmes, events and support. To keep in touch with all their opportunities, sign up for their club mailing list.
