Student resources for safety and support

We are keen to remind you about keeping safe in and around the DMU Leicester campus and how to seek support from DMU when you need it.

Keeping Safe – Advice from our Security Team

DMU has a Security Team, with a police officer dedicated to the campus. The Security Team shares important information about keeping your property secure, staying vigilant, and staying safe on nights out. You can find this advice on the DMU Security webpage.

If you have witnessed an incident, please contact our Security Team. You can contact Security by:

  • calling on 0116 2577642 (extension 7642)
  • emailing at security@dmu.ac.uk
  • visiting their reception in the Estates Services building, opposite the Campus Centre and Gateway House.

They are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please save the Security phone number on your mobile if you haven’t already.

If you’re in an emergency please call the police on 999. If you're in danger but can't talk on the phone, you can still call 999 and make a silent 999 call.

Thankfully, dangerous incidents are rare at DMU, but we know that it can be distressing to witness an incident or a crime. If this happens to you, please report it to our Security Team as soon as possible, so they can take action to offer you support.

Seeking Wellbeing Support from DMU

If you have been a victim of a crime or witnessed a crime happening, you can contact our Student Support Centre by emailing wellbeing@dmu.ac.uk

There is also a range of support available via the Student Gateway.

DMU is committed to keeping our campus a safe and supportive place for all students. We are working closely with Leicestershire Police and other partners in Leicester to address any issues and concerns from students.
