Become a ballet box handler and support local elections in Leicester

Elections to select a Police and Crime Commissioner take place on Thursday 2 May and there is the opportunity for DMU students to play their part in the democratic process.

The count is the most important part of an election night and Unitemps is looking for students to be ballot box handlers for the night.

Ballot Box handlers support the election presiding officers in unloading boxes of votes from vehicles to relevant locations. You will often see handlers on TV, taking the votes to the polling station as part of the national coverage for general elections or important referendums.

Expected start and end date: Thursday 2 May 2024 from 21:15 to 00:15

Location: Morning Side Arena, Leicester

The closing date for applications is Friday 19th April 2024.

Rate of pay: £13.00

This is a chance to get first-hand experience of democracy in action – perfect for students interested in participating in or reporting on local politics.

More information on the role can be found on the Unitemps website.
