Leicester Graduate City

In 2019 DMU began a partnership with Leicester City Council and the University of Leicester to help build Leicester as a great graduate city where students can easily stay and start their career.

Leicester has a lower cost of living than many larger cities and offers Leicester graduates the chance to work for a wide range of employers in the city and county, as well as connect with others to develop new entrepreneurial ventures.

A Leicester student experience forum has been created at the heart of the City Council to bring in students’ voice to shape city developments and help put the city at the leading edge of sustainability and community cohesion. (Click here for an executive summary of the student voice report).

Through this partnership, students will be able to get involved with all kinds of aspects of city living, from urban design to social poverty, working on programmes through their course or directly with our Careers Team and City Council.

The partnership will also offer six-week internships for second year students to work in Leicester industries that face high skills needs, such as the logistics and digital sectors.
