Your career path

At De Montfort University, we are focussed on helping our students become adaptable for a fast-changing world. A DMU degree means getting access to experiences that will take you to new places, introduce you to people in successful careers and open up new horizons.

Our teaching and research are closely connected with the world outside university. Your course will give you the chance to meet people from relevant organisations, take part in projects with business and develop your own ideas for innovations in the way we live and work, whatever your academic interests.

Alongside your course, we offer a huge range of co-curricular workshops, boot camps and work experience opportunities. In 2020, more than 9,000 students took part in employability sessions as part of their course, learning from insights and career stories of industry speakers and DMU alumni.

In 2020, our new digital support scheme saw 23 students matched with 23 local businesses to help develop their websites, devise marketing campaigns and build booking systems.

"I've found the voluntary placement scheme very helpful, both in terms of providing some excellent experience for my CV, demonstrating the ability to rise to challenges in times of stress, as well as benefiting my mental health. Having something to completely dedicate myself to was very helpful for keeping me grounded during self-isolation, and I found the scheme to be an excellent use of my time. I would definitely recommend the scheme."
