DMU Confucius Institute Invited to Perform for Leicester City Council


On 24 September, the DMU Confucius Institute took part in a Leicester City Council Equality, Diversity and Inclusion staff training workshop held at the Peepul Centre, delivering a Tai Chi Fan Dance performance.

At the event, Yi Zhang, Chinese Director of the CI, gave participants an overview of the institute’s development. She pointed out that the Confucius Institute serves not only as an important platform for Chinese‑language learning, but also as a bridge for Sino‑UK cultural dialogue and deeper mutual understanding between people of both nations.

Following the introduction, the CI’s volunteer teachers gave the Tai Chi Fan Dance performance. Blending Tai Chi principles with elegant fan techniques, the display combined strength and grace and drew warm applause from the audience. Event organizers also invited the CI team for a group photograph. There are over 100 attendees got a taste of traditional Chinese martial‑arts culture.
