De Montfort University (DMU) is located in Leicester, which is a very multicultural city, with a large South Asian population. DMU’s award-winning careers and employability service, DMU Works, not only guarantees work experience opportunities, but was also recently awarded a prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Award – known as the ‘Oscars of higher education’ – for Outstanding Support for Students in recognition of an initiative delivered by DMU Works to help students from ethnic minority groups gain job confidence.
We offer more than 300 courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level within the fields of Art, Design & Humanities, Business & Law, Computing, Engineering & Media and Health & Life Sciences, many of which offer professional accreditations, links to industry or work experience. Each year more than 2,700 international students from more than 130 countries choose to study with us.
De Montfort University has a number of active societies which you can join upon your arrival. We have a very active Indian society who host several events throughout the year, in addition to a number of other student societies and clubs.
Leicester offers everything you expect from a city and more – all on your doorstep. There are great shops, bars and restaurants just a short distance from campus, and Leicester is recognised as a great place to be a student too, with the latest Student Living Index (compiled by NatWest) ranking Leicester in the top 10 ‘most affordable student cities’, based on the cost to students of food, rent and fun. Leicester is rich in culture and diversity, making it feel like the world is on your doorstep. It’s home to one of the biggest celebrations of Diwali, the festival of light, outside of India, too.
