From Monday 14 October to Friday 18 October 2019 (the Autumn school half-term holiday), Leicester City Council will be carrying out improvement and maintenance works to the pedestrian crossings on Western Boulevard outside the QEII Leisure Centre and The Venue.
This will involve the relaying of kerbs and tactile pavement on the north side and associated footway works. Once these works have been completed the area will be resurfaced and new lines marked onto the road.
In order to carry out the works safely the section of Western Boulevard between the junctions with Braunstone Gate and The Newarke will be closed to vehicles, with access for vehicles maintained along the access road which leads to The Venue car park.
Pedestrian access along Western Boulevard on both sides of the closed section of road will be maintained during the works period.
Drivers requiring access to campus buildings or car parks who currently travel onto Western Boulevard from the north will need to use alternative routes to access the campus from the southern section of Western Boulevard.
This map shows the section of Western Boulevard to be closed to vehicles.
Please ensure that any visitors are advised of the changes.
