Students have rated their experience at De Montfort University, Leicester (DMU) so highly, it has earned the university three national award nominations.
DMU has been shortlisted for the 2026 Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) – a national scheme based entirely on student feedback.

This year, the university is in the running for an award across three categories, International, Student Accommodation and Postgraduate, reflecting the range of the student experiences, from global opportunities to campus life and advanced study.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on Thursday 21 May 2026.
Professor Lisa Stansbie, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education, Equalities and Student Experience at DMU, said: “Being shortlisted for three national awards based entirely on student feedback is a fantastic achievement for DMU.
“It reflects the strength and diversity of our student experience – from international opportunities to accommodation and postgraduate study.
“Most importantly, it shows that our students feel supported, inspired and proud to be part of our community, which is something we are incredibly proud of.”
DMU is hoping to build on its previous WUSCAs success in the Postgraduate category, having been consistently shortlisted and ranked among the top 10 universities in the UK in 2025.
Over recent months, the WUSCAs review team has visited more than 85 university campuses across the UK, collecting over 42,000 verified student reviews.
Students were invited to independently review their university experiences across a wide range of areas, including teaching quality, student support, international experience, and accommodation.
Now in its 13th year, the WUSCAs remain the only higher education awards ceremony in the UK judged entirely by students.
The 42,000 student reviews collected this year provide independent insights for institutions on how they are delivering for students, what they are doing right and what they can improve.
To date, DMU has a strong track record in the awards. In 2021, it ranked in the top three for Graduate Outcomes and Excellence in Digital Innovation, and in 2022 it placed 14th in the University of the Year category.
