Adam is in demand after making an impression on placement

Strong relationships formed during his placement year have led to an Advertising and Marketing Communications student being offered two graduate roles.

Adam Bly said it "feels great" to be in demand ahead of graduating from De Montfort University Leicester (DMU).

He has accepted a post as a business development executive at Impression, the Nottingham digital marketing agency he worked with closely during his 12-month placement at Experian.

Adam said: "Having such a good existing relationship with Impression, the whole process of gaining graduate employment for me has been relatively stress free."

Starting in June, Adam can draw on skills and experiences gained on his degree and at global information services group Experian.

As a digital marketing assistant he was involved in the creation and management of digital marketing campaigns, organic and paid social media as well as content marketing through the company blog.

"My role involved working closely with the sales team to generate the kind of leads they needed, which is where my interest in sales came from," said Adam.

A further boost came courtesy of DMU's Employability Award - introduced earlier this year to offer final-year undergraduates £100 towards the cost of securing employment.

"It covered my travel expenses at a crucial time," said Adam.

The 22-year-old from Northampton was first attracted to the degree course because of the content.

"After visiting DMU on an Open Day I could tell it was for me by the enthusiasm with which students and staff spoke about it. The campus was impressive, too."

Studying at DMU has sparked a greater interest in marketing and helped Adam develop skills needed for his chosen career.

"My course has had a great practical aspect to it across all three years and this really sets you up for the professional world of work," he said.

Adam is grateful for the help he received to boost his employability. He said: "The placement unit were incredibly helpful when it came to securing my placement at the end of the second year.

"I have also had invaluable guidance from my lecturers, namely Associate Professor David Gordon, who with his vast industry experience has been able to point me in the right direction when deciding on my graduate career path."

During his time at university Adam has also embraced extracurricular activities, having been a member of the DMU Men's Football society for four years.

He added: "I have been part of some great teams, won all three Varsity matches that I have played in and made friends for life."
