DMU's links with UK's Top 25 companies to work for

Companies which offer placements to De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) students have been named in the top 25 firms to work for in the UK.

The list, compiled by jobs website Glassdoor, rates companies on how they rate their boss, whether they would recommend them to a friend, workplace benefits, career progression and work-life balance.

PLACEMENT: Agnete Linikaite is spending a year at Jaguar Land Rover

The top five were Google, John Lewis, Microsoft, Accenture and Jaguar Land Rover.

In many cases placements have led to jobs with the firms, as Business and Management student Adam Gravely discovered.

He spent a year at the Nottingham branch of John Lewis as a management trainee and has since landed a role with the company on its graduate programme.

He said: “When I came to DMU I knew I wanted to work in management at John Lewis and when I told my tutors and lecturers they did everything they could to help me develop the skill set I would need to achieve my dream job.”

Agnete Linikaite, Product and Furniture Design student, is spending a year with Jaguar Land Rover's engineering centre in Coventry after impressing bosses with her portfolio.

She said she was "over the moon" at landing the placement at the company.  DMU offers placements with these firms through My Gateway, the university’s free employability service.

It lists job opportunities, runs training sessions and helps students prepare for job interviews and tests.

DMU alumni Lloyd Grose works for Microsoft as a senior consultant. He is a computer science graduate. He said: “I believe DMU is one of the best
universities for providing industry links and an insight into the working world. It enabled me to grow and develop my confidence. It’s the best thing I ever
did.”
