Description

We will be joined by Jasvinder Sanghera and Jess Phillips MP for an interesting discussion around violence against women, current challenges and hope for the future.

Jasvinder Sanghera has acted as a political advisor, subject matter expert and human rights campaigner, awarded CBE in 2013, amongst other highly recognised awards. She has founded, and led for 25 years, the award-winning charity Karma Nirvana, which supports the victims of honour-based abuse and forced marriage.

Jess Phillips is the Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley and Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding. In 2010, she joined Women’s Aid, managing domestic abuse refuges in the West Midlands. Jess has been working with specialist frontline services such as Southall Black Sisters to campaign for alternative safe accommodation for those fleeing domestic abuse, as women’s refuges across the country are at capacity.

Bookings will close 1 hour prior to the start of the event. Registrants will receive a link to join the online talk 24hrs before the event, via their provided email address.
