Kelly Henderson is the Interim Director of Housing at Women’s Pioneer Housing and co-founded the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) after her experience of working in the housing and domestic abuse sectors. The event will be Chaired by Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council (NREC) Board member, Laney Holland.

The purpose of the event is to discuss important and topical issues which affect our communities. These include women who are made homeless due to domestic abuse.
Members of the DMU Women network are actively engaged in research relating to these areas and it is also vitally important that we raise raising awareness of the important work which organisations such as the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (https://www.dahalliance.org.uk/) and Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council (https://northantsrec.org/) are doing.

Kelly co-founded the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) after her experience of working in the housing and domestic abuse sectors. She was recently seconded to Northumbria Police to project manage a Home Office funded multi force project (Domestic Abuse A Whole Systems Approach - DAWSA) to improve the Police response to domestic abuse and oversee research into the provision of a national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. Her PhD (Durham University) researched the role of housing in a co-ordinated community response to domestic abuse and included the largest UK questionnaire to housing providers on domestic abuse.
She was named as 24 Housing's ‘Housing Professional of the Year’ in 2018 for her work and research on housing and domestic abuse and is listed as one of the 20 Women in Housing Leaders. She is co-author of ‘Housing and Domestic Abuse – Policy into Practice’.
Kelly is a trustee of the Alice Ruggles Trust (https://www.alicerugglestrust.org/), an Honorary Research Fellow at Durham University and a Steering Group member of the Centre for Research into Violence and Abuse (CriVA).
Jo Richardson is Professor of Housing and Social Inclusion and Associate Dean (Research & Innovation) based in the Faculty of Business and Law at De Montfort University, Leicester.
Jo has undertaken research funded by a range of funding councils, charities and public bodies. She uses co-production methods, working with communities.
Jo has worked with local partners on the ‘European End Street Homeless’ campaign in Leicester and she is a Trustee at World Habitat.

Laney Holland has worked in the Black voluntary sector over the past twenty years. She has focussed on critically important issues about race, gender and exclusion, including areas such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and the access of BAME women to domestic abuse services.
As a Director of Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council, she has been the governance lead on the organisation's pregnancy and maternity discrimination project. She is also a founder of Creating Equalz (https://creatingequalz.co.uk/), a local charity striving to work with local and national agencies to adopt a strategic focus on gender-based violence and race. Over the past few years, she has been practising as a Complex Continuity midwife, working with women with social vulnerabilities.
