Why did you decide to take up the senior leaders' apprenticeship course?

I have always enjoyed learning and wanted to challenge myself to take on a Master Level qualification. I was really pleased when I saw that this was available to me through a workplace apprenticeship as I felt this would offer the perfect opportunity to learn whilst at work.

How has it helped your career so far? Have you been able to put learnings into practice in the job?

Absolutely, my ambition is to be a HR Director and this course has given me the confidence to network, engage with and influence colleagues at Director and Assistant Director level. I have been able to use the skills I have gained in my report writing, my presentations and to help shape my critical thinking in complex HR challenges.

What feedback have you had from your company on your apprenticeship – have they been able to see the benefit that you’ve brought back to the role?

My organisation has been really pleased with the benefits and have seen my confidence grow over this time. I have been afforded opportunities to deputise for the current Assistant Director and take on more senior projects as a result of the skills I have developed during this course.

What’s been the best moment of the course so far – has it been making new contacts in your industry, getting chance to focus on your career or something else?

I really enjoyed the learning days where I was able to meet other senior leaders working across different industries and have been able to develop some great networks. I also found that being part of a university and having access to the campus, library and online resources allowed me to truly immerse myself in a world of learning!
