High-achieving students awarded with top prizes at Leicester Business School


High-flying graduates were rewarded for achieving outstanding results on postgraduate courses at Leicester Business School.

Prizes were awarded to students whose determination, ability and commitment to academic study have earned them impressive grades and who also helped fellow students achieve their best. A gallery of winners is available on DMU Leicester's Facebook page.

Professor Cillian Ryan, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, said: “We are proud of the achievements of all our graduates but we wish to celebrate in particular those of you who have contributed in a special way to the faculty through your academic excellence and citizenship.
“We are blessed with wonderful students here at De Montfort and it is always difficult to select winners from the wealth of talent among our graduates.

These prize winners are a recognition of outstanding achievements and success.”

The Sue Owen Memorial Prize for best overall full-time postgraduate student performance, and the MSc International Business and Management Prize, went to Kiranjit Kaur, pictured above.

Programme leader Natalia Vershinia said of Kiranjit: “She is articulate, passionate, knowledgeable and highly dedicated to studies and helping others. She is an excellent ambassador for DMU.”

Many have already landed top jobs. Saffron Stickings, who won the prize for MA Managament of Human Resources, is working in HR with the National College of Adult Education; Vanessa Walz, MSc Marketing Management, is working on consumer campaigns with 3tc Software, UK, while Anna Curtis is a successful consultant.

Victoria Chukwudum (pictured above), who won best student on the MSc Risk Management, was praised for “truly outstanding achievements”. She is now pursuing a PhD at DMU in strategic management. She said: “I’m so excited to get this award. It has been very, very hard work but it has been worth it.”
