Meet the new student exec team at De Montfort Students' Union!


The votes are in – and De Montfort Students’ Union can announce its new DSU executive team for the next year!

A huge 3, 846 votes were cast in this year’s election which saw Adil Waraich re-elected as DSU president; Amie Chapman re-elected DSU Vice-President Education and Adam Redfern re-elected Vice-President Media and Communications.

VOTES: An emotional Keira on hearing she had won!

Joining the team are Keira Rounsley, new VP Welfare and Daniel Winney who will be VP for sports and societies.

Keira said: “I can’t believe it, it’s not sunk in yet! I decided to run for welfare because I really struggled in my first year and I don’t want people to feel like there’s no support for them.”

“I’m really looking forward to working with everyone,” added Dan. “We will make DSU the best it’s ever been.”

In an emotional speech thanking fellow candidates and all who had helped his campaign, Adil said: “We’ve got the stability and the team to move forward. We’ve shown we can change things at DMU for the better.”

Rebecca Robson and Steve Burrell chose not to stand again for election this year. Adam Graveley and Danielle Bryn were voted the new NUS reps, Ayodele Oyetunde the new mature students' rep and Daniel Murgatroyd the new LGBTQ+ students' rep.
