This module concerns the study of law as it pertains to sport, mostly in relation the UK but there is a distinct international dimension as sport is a global phenomenon. The law in this area relates to two main categories, the sports regulatory regime and the commercial aspects of sport. As a level three module the course builds upon subjects which will have been encountered by students previously on the LLB pathway. These areas are for instance some aspects of criminal law, contract law, tort law and Human Rights Act principles and the laws of the European Union.

After studying this module students achieving a good degree may want to consider a range of sports law specific post graduate qualifications offered by the Sports Law Unit. Students on these programmes are typically considering, or already on, a career path as sports agents or lawyers specialising in sports related cases.
