Permit Types


Main Car Park Permit

This permit entitles the holder to park within the Main Car Park (off Deacon Street) and the Mill Lane (overflow) Car Park, only. A Pay & Display payment option is available for this type of permit. 

Eligibility

All university staff (living outside of the Campus Exclusion Zone) are eligible to apply.

Staff living within the Campus Exclusion Zone, with specific needs requiring a parking permit, may submit a Campus Exclusion Appeal, as detailed in the Vehicle Parking & Cycle Policy. 

How to Apply

Please apply via the My Car Park tile on the DMU Hub. 

If you do not have access to the DMU Hub, please complete the relevant offline application form below.

Each paper based application will be checked and, should you have access to the Hub you will be asked to complete this online.

 


 

Building Specific Permit

This permit is designed to support staff who require parking close to their building of work. Permit holders are permitted to park in their designated Building Specific Car Park, as well as the Main Car Park and Mill Lane Car Park. A Pay & Display payment option is available in selected Building Specific Car Parks.

Eligibility

Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria.

  1. Staff with medical issues based within the attached building.
  2. Staff with medical issues based in other buildings.
  3. Staff with work related issues based within the attached building.
  4. Staff with work related issues based in other buildings.
  5. Staff with personal issues based within the attached building e.g. carer issues.
  6. Staff with personal issues based in other buildings.
  7. Staff with no particular reason within the attached building.
  8. Staff with no particular reason based in other building.

Late Arrival Permit (available from September 2019)

This permit is designed to support staff who regularly start work after 9:30am. Permit holders are permitted to park in the designated ‘Late Arrivals’ spaces as well as the Main Car Park and Mill Lane Car Park.

Eligibility

All university staff (living outside of the Campus Exclusion Zone), who regularly start work after 9.30am may apply.

Assessed Needs Permit (available from September 2019)

This permit has been designed to support staff who do not hold a Local Authority Blue Badge, but who, for medical reasons, require access to parking close to their place of work. Permit holders are permitted to park in any parking bay on campus, including the designated disabled parking bays.

Eligibility

University staff who meet the following criteria: the person has a medical condition, disability or restricted mobility that means that they are unable to walk more than short distances e.g. 100 metres, and require access to a parking space as near as possible to their workplace or building. There is another medical condition, or reason related to health, why they cannot use public transport, park on public roads and/or walk from other university or private car parks to reach their workplace.

The issuing of an Assessed Needs Permit is subject to approval from Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

A supplementary GP Referral Form will need to be completed and submitted to Health, Safety and Wellbeing for review. 

 



Local Authority Blue Badge Permit

This free permit has been created for Local Authority Blue Badge Holders, only. Permit holders are permitted to park in any parking bay on campus, but should use the designated disabled parking bays wherever possible.

Eligibility

University staff in receipt of a Local Authority issued Blue Disabled Badge may apply.

Each paper based application will be checked and, should you have access to the Hub you will be asked to complete this online. 

Applicants will be required to provide their original Local Authority Blue Badge for verification at the Estates Services Building Reception. 

 


 

Car Share 3-for-Free Permit

This free permit is designed to support members of staff who regularly car share in a group of three or more DMU members of staff. Permit holders are eligible to park in the Main Car Park and the Mill Lane Car Park, including the car share area.

Eligibility

University staff, living outside of the Campus Exclusion Zone, who regularly car share in a group of three or more members of DMU staff.

Please note, all members of the car share group will be required to complete a separate application form.

 


 

Park & Ride Season Ticket

Eligible members of DMU staff can apply to use Leicester’s Park & Ride services (Birstall, Enderby and Meynell's Gorse) free of charge, on the condition that they do not hold a permit to use the on-campus car parks. Season Tickets will be valid from September 1 until August 31 inclusive and are to be used solely for DMU business purposes, including commuting to and from work.

Eligibility

This offer is open to all members of staff who:

  • Live outside of the campus exclusion zone.
  • Work more than 0.5 Full Time Equivalent (0.5 FTE) hours.
  • Hold contracts which run until at least 31 August of each permit year.

 

How to Apply

To apply, please complete the application form here. A limited number of season tickets are available, therefore staff are encouraged to apply early to avoid disappointment. Permits will be issued on a first come first serve basis.

Please note, no staff member will be able to hold a DMU Parking Permit and a Park & Ride Season Ticket at the same time.
