Exams, deferrals, regulations and policies
At De Montfort University we strive to provide you with the infrastructure that support your studies. We want to try and ensure that all students have a positive experience at DMU so it is important that you ask for support when you need it and give feedback should you have any concerns or issues.
The Exams Office is responsible for scheduling formal exams and invigilators, managing exam documents and dealing with queries on the day of the exam. Individual Exam Arrangements are also put in place through the Exams Office.
Our aim is to provide an exam scheduling service that is equitable to all students and in accordance with the university regulations concerning exams.
The assessment of work is an important milestone in your academic career. Deferral of assessment occurs when you have permission from the University to take an assessment at a later date than scheduled, without it having an effect on your re-sit opportunities.
The Student Administrative Support Division (SASD) is responsible for a large number of student-based processes, including exams, academic awards and student records.
General regulations and procedures affecting students are the rules and regulations which apply to all DMU students including student discipline, payment of fees, examination regulations, extenuating circumstances, academic appeals, and health and safety policy.
DMU recognises the importance of effective complaints management as both a tool and a source of information for service improvement. We welcome feedback from all our students and recognises the right of students or alumni to raise issues of concern about the services provided by the university which may affect the quality of their student experience.
