Lifts in three buildings – Gateway House, Clephan, Bede Island – are being replaced as part of a project to improve reliability.
The latest updates are as follows:
Clephan Building
Lift 1 is completed and now in service. Demolition works to lift 2 are due to be completed by early April.
There will be three weeks of demolition works to remove the existing lift from the beginning of February.
Bede Island (Leicester Media School)
Works to Lift 1 in Bede Island are due to start on Monday 10 February and be completed by mid-May (the site compound will result in two car park spaces being taken up for the duration of these works). There will approximately two weeks of demolition works at the beginning of this period.
Gateway House
Lifts 1 and 2 are now in normal service (please note the decoration lobby wall is still in progress).
Works on Lift 3 are due to commence on Monday 10 February with completion due in early May.
During these works there will be noisy operations, particularly through the demolition phases, and the contractor is being encouraged where possible to complete noisy works before or after core hours of 9am to 5pm.
Due to site conditions, the demolition works in Gateway House for Lift 3 are being completed out of hours from Monday 10 February for three weeks. Estates will continue to monitor the noise in all buildings. Entrances and exits will be maintained at all times.
