DMU is proud to be hosting an Open Community Iftar event to promote unity, solidarity and community cohesion on campus on Wednesday 22 May.
Everyone is invited to attend the complimentary feast and join in the traditions which surround Ramadan and learn about the purpose and benefits of fasting.
The event being held in Hawthorn Square will feature a series of talks and activities.
Come along to celebrate our diverse communities and enjoy an evening promoting peace and unity for all.
The event will start at 7pm and the Iftar (fast opening) meal will be served at sunset. Volunteers will help to sort the donated items from 5.30pm.
Please RSVP to confirm your attendance via email at email@example.com or call 0116 251 7131.
As part of the event, De Montfort Students' Union (DSU) and #DMUlocal will be holding a donation drive for essential items such as toiletries and non-perishable food for local refugee families.
We are accepting donations of:
- Non-perishable foods
- Household items
- Clothes and shoes
- Pots and pans
You can take any items on this list to DSU Reception in the Campus Centre from now until Wednesday 22 May.
All donations from the list are welcome. Every item that is donated will go some way towards helping vulnerable people living in extremely difficult circumstances.
