Learning Disability student nurses at DMU want your support for their 100-mile charity bike ride

Learning Disability student nurses from DMU, along with Senior Lecturer Justine Barksby, will be raising money for charity by taking part in The Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride on Sunday 23 June.

This year celebrates 100 years of Learning Disability Nursing, and to mark this anniversary, a team from DMU will be cycling 100 miles in one day (either 25 miles each in groups of four, 50 miles in pairs or even 100 miles solo!).

They will be fundraising for two charities:

  • Abbie’s Army – a charity for children diagnosed with brain cancer (and a cause that’s very close to one of the students doing the event)
  • Menphys – a charity for disabled children, young people and their families in Leicester

Justine Barksby said: “If you feel that you can spare a few pounds for two worthy causes, please sponsor us; and if you can share it as widely as possible on social media, I will be delighted.”

You can donate via the team’s Just Giving pages for Abby’s Army and/or Menphys, or in person to Justine.
