Book your place at TEDxDemontfortUwomen: Empowering Female Futures

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These events are branded TEDx, where 'x' equals an independently organised TED event.

TEDxDemontfortUwomen will take place on Tuesday 10 December and is organised by two award-winning Leicester Castle Business School students, Jane Hearst and Maximillian Chikwanha, along with Simon Baines, Enterprise Project Manager in Student and Academic Services.

The idea for the event, which is called Empowering Female Futures, came from a #DMUglobal trip to San Francisco arranged by DMUworks and the Enterprise and Business Relations directorate.

It will cover themes based on female empowerment, with inspirational talks providing an insight into the intersectionality of the female experience, and issues around gender, race, disability and sexuality.

One of the talks will be streamed from the international TEDxWomen summit and there will be live performances and networking opportunities.

Tickets are free and available from 4pm on Monday 29 July via this link

It is open to DMU staff, students and the public. Speakers and performers are yet to be announced but as places are limited, early booking is recommended. An additional batch of tickets will be released in late September to enable new students to attend.

Please only request a ticket when you know for certain that you can come. If for any reason you register and can no longer attend, please email enterprise@dmu.ac.uk.
