On Wednesday 13 February, from 2-4pm, DMU Unison invites you to a special ‘Show Racism the Red Card' event that will explore racism and its impact.
Taking place in the Clephan Lecture Theatre 2.13, this free event aims to bring together Unison members, DMU staff and students for a series of talks and short films covering the experiences of minority groups within society and to consider how racism can be combated in all its forms.
The event will start with a welcome from Chief Operating Officer of DMU, Ben Browne, followed by a number of guest speakers including: Roger Mckenzie, Assistant General Secretary of Unison; former Premier League footballer Chris Iwelumo; Ben Holman from Show Racism the Red Card, Claire Horne from Thompson Solicitors and contributions from Leicester City Football Club.
Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s anti-racism educational charity, which was established in 1996. The organisation uses the high-profile status of football and its players to help tackle racism in society.
Challenging racism in the workplace is part of Unison’s core work on race equality, using its collective power to tackle discrimination. Places are limited so please book through Eventbrite. Refreshments will be available.
