The Seed Grant project is designed to help the DMU community to take action on sustainable development and the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The grants are for situations where a little money and support can get a project started.
A total of £2,000 is available in 2019/20 and the maximum application is for £1,000. We hope to support between four and seven projects, with a typical budget between £150 and £500.
Who is eligible?
DMU students, DMU staff and DMU alumni, or groups/organisations are eligible for the grant, with a lead applicant in one of these three roles (e.g. DMU student societies; DMU staff networks).
How do I apply?
Applicants are strongly encouraged to first contact the DMU Sustainability team for an initial discussion about the project before drafting an application, by emailing sustainability@dmu.ac.uk. The application will then be reviewed for potential funding.
Successful proposals will also receive further support with implementation, such as promotion on social media, and evaluation.
What projects are eligible for funding?
The four criteria that will inform decisions are:
- Positive contribution to sustainable development and the SDGs – learning, social/environmental/economic or otherwise
- Awareness of SDGs and DMU’s commitment
- Linkages – the activity makes connections to other initiatives at DMU or in the target community
- Cost Effectiveness – have other sources of funding or support been explored?
