Lift replacement project in 2020

Lifts in four buildings – Gateway House, Clephan, Bede Island and Hawthorn Building – are being replaced in early 2020 as part of a project to improve reliability. 

The approximate programme dates are as follows:

Gateway House

• Lift 1 and 2 (smaller lift) – end of January
• Lift 3 (larger lift) – commences early February and completes at the end of April
• Lift 4 (larger lift) – commences early May and completes at the end of July

Clephan

• Lift 1 – completed w/c Monday 6 January
• Lift 2 – commences early January and completes in mid-April

Leicester Media School – Bede Island

• Lift 1 – commences mid-February and completes at the end of March
• Lift 2 – commences early April and completes mid-May

Hawthorn Building

• Lift 1 (smaller lift HB2) – commences mid-March and completes at the end of May  
• Lift 2 – commences early June and completes at the end of July

Unfortunately there will be some noise generated by the works. To reduce the impact, the contractor will carry out operations that don’t result in continuous drilling or excessive noise for more than one minute between 9am and 5pm. Noisy works are scheduled for outside of these hours and Estates will continue to monitor the impact.
