#TeamDMU returned to BUCS action again this week, and there were 27 fixtures scheduled throughout the day.
First up were Men’s Badminton 1st who faced neighbours the University of Leicester (UoL) Men’s 1st.
The match began with all contests taking place at the same time and all four matches being taken to a deciding third game.
DMU were unfortunate and lost the first two singles matches by close margins and the second seed doubles match also went UoL’s way, but #TeamDMU did take a win from the first seed doubles match. At the halfway stage the score stood at 1-3 in favour of UoL.
With four points still up for grabs DMU knew they had to be on top form to turn the game around.
Unfortunately, UoL grew into the game and proved too strong for DMU and scooped all the remaining points making the final score 7-1.
Our second fixture of the day saw us take the trip over to Leicester Forest Rugby Football Club to see Men’s Rugby 2nd take on Northampton 2nd.
After a tough loss in week one, #TeamDMU were looking to make a strong come-back and take the win.
From the first whistle #TeamDMU were on top, and scored two tries in very quick concession also converting one of them.
It seemed as though it was going to be a very easy day at the office for #TeamDMU, which was confirmed at halftime as they went in with a strong 41-0 lead.
The message going into the second half was to shut out Northampton, get the extra point and keep a clean sheet, which is exactly what DMU did.
The game ended a very impressive 98-0. Men’s Rugby 2nd have definitely set the benchmark for the season.
The final fixture of the day took us back to the QE2 leisure centre for a very hotly anticipated Netball 1st team game against UoL 1st.
The girls started brightly matching UoL for the first few minutes, however UoL grew into the game which saw them lead at halftime 10-25.
The final two quarters also proved very difficult for #TeamDMU with UoL extending their lead through some very clinical shooting.
After a tough game for #TeamDMU in which they showed excellent effort, UoL took the win 20-56.
