The DMU Music Scholarship provides talented DMU student musicians with a unique opportunity to develop their musical skills alongside academic study.
DMU Music Scholars will receive one-to-one coaching from leading professional musicians, including members of the internationally-renowned Philharmonia Orchestra, resulting in a final solo recital as part of the DMU Music lunchtime concerts series in June 2019.
To apply, students must either be an instrumentalist who has studied to grade seven or eight standard or a vocalist who has studied to grade seven.
Entry to the Music Scholarships programme is via a competitive audition process where students will be required to play or sing two contrasting pieces in front of an audition panel, including DMU Music staff and members of the Philharmonia Orchestra.
The audition will be followed by a short interview focussing on students’ musical skills, interests, experience and aspirations.
In addition to committing fully to the DMU Music Scholarships programme, all successful students will be required to play an active role as both members and volunteers in DMU Music ensembles and projects.
For the 2018/19 academic year, we have up to four DMU Music Scholarships available for student musicians and auditions will be held on Friday 23 November.
