Graduation tickets

Invitations will be sent out by email to all addresses held on your student record and by postcard to permanent addresses from Tuesday 5 November 2019. If you have not received your invitation by Tuesday 12 November 2019, please contact the graduation team by emailing  academicawards@dmu.ac.uk

You are advised to check the settings on your 'junk' mail to make sure that you do not miss this invitation.

How do I register for the ceremony? 

You can register your attendance and purchase up to two guest tickets for your graduation ceremony online.

This website will open at 12 noon on Tuesday 5 November and close at 5pm on Thursday 5 December 2019.

The graduation team cannot guarantee places for graduands who do not register their attendance during the initial four week booking process due to availability of places.  

You are strongly advised to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as some of our ceremonies may be very full.

If you do not register your attendance during the initial booking process, please contact the graduation team to register your attendance from 4 pm on Thursday 12 December via the graduation helpline +44 (0)116 257 7307 (a £10 non-refundable administrative fee will be charged). Guest tickets may also be purchased, subject to availability. Lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

If your ceremony is fully booked and you have not registered your attendance please contact the graduation team from 4pm on Thursday 12 December and your name will be placed on a reservation list. You will then be contacted if space becomes available and allocated a student ticket. Guest tickets for students on the reservation list cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability,

It is important to register with us that you are attending-if you do not notify us and simply turn up on the day, you will not be able to graduate. Please do not make any costly travel or accommodation arrangements until your graduation place is formally confirmed by the Graduation Team.

Do I need to wait for my results before I register for the ceremony?

No - please do not wait. You should confirm your wish to attend as soon as possible and by no later than 5pm on Thursday 5 December 2019. Graduands who have paid for guest tickets but are not successful in their study will receive a full refund from the university by the end of February 2020.

Can I request more than two guest tickets?

Seating at The Venue is limited. We guarantee that each graduand may purchase up to two guest tickets (£15 each) but only if they register their attendance before 5pm on Thursday 5 December 2019.

Additional tickets, if available, will be on sale on a staggered release from 10am on Thursday 12 December 2019  until 5pm on Wednsday 18 December 2019.

The exact time that the booking process for additional tickets will open and close for your ceremony, will be published at a later date. 

Please note: Times and dates will be different for each ceremony.

Graduands who do not register their attendance during the initial booking process can contact the Graduation Office to register their attendance from  4pm on Thurday 12 December until 5pm on Monday 6 January 2020 and purchase guest tickets, subject to availability. A £10 non-refundable administrative fee will be charged.

Please do not make any costly travel or accomodation arrangements until such time as any  tickets have been successfully purchased.

Additional tickets will only be available online to those students who have already registered to attend their ceremony, by the closing date of 5pm on Thursday 5 December 2019.

Any remaining surplus tickets will be available to purchase (£15) on a first-come first-serve basis from our online Store from 12noon  on Thursday 19 Decembery 2019  to 5pm on Monday  6 January 2020.  Please note: These surplus tickets will not be sat with any previous tickets purchased.

Due to popular demand tickets for some ceremonies may have limited availability.

Can children attend the ceremony?

A: Of course your Graduation is a time of family celebration of your achievements and children are welcome to attend. However, the graduation ceremonies are formal occasions and we do not recommend that babies and young children attend. The production will include moments of darkness and loud music and noise, so if you do intend on bringing along younger guests you may want to consider bringing ear defenders. Unfortunately we cannot supply these. We respectfully request that small children be taken outside if they become unsettled during the ceremony so as not to disturb proceedings. 

The safety and well-being of children is the responsibility of accompanying adults and must be adhered to at all times throughout the ceremony, including the ceremony finale where graduands and guests are invited onto the platform.

Please also note that all guests, including babies and toddlers need to be in possession of their own ticket (£15 each) to ensure that we comply with the venue capacity restrictions.

I cannot attend the ceremony in January 2020; can I defer my graduation until a later date?

Yes. If you wish to attend a future ceremony, either in  July 2020 or January 2021; you do still need to reply however, so please indicate this when you reply to your invitation. Please note that we do not automatically invite graduands to future ceremonies unless specifically asked to do so.
