Meet the Global Partnerships Unit team
Lawrence D'Souza, Director of Global Partnerships
Lawrence D'Souza is a Director with responsibility for the Global Partnership Unit. The Global Partnership Unit is responsible for the development and management of Trans National Education (TNE) activity within DMU.
Lawrence joined DMU in May 2018. For over a decade he previously held various roles in Coventry University including Lecturer, Internationalisation Manager and Deputy Director for Academic Partnerships. While at Coventry he build TNE activity across the University Group.
He is an experienced strategic and results driven leader with over 13 years’ experience in developing academic partnerships across the world.
Lawrence holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Mumbai University and a MBA from Coventry University.

Kerry Harrison, Collaborative Partnerships Manager
Kerry Harrison is Collaborative Partnerships Manager within the Global Partnership Unit at DMU. Kerry has responsibility for the management and operation of the University’s transnational education partnerships and oversight of recruitment partnership arrangements.
Kerry joined DMU in 2009 and is a former DMU student having graduated with a first class honours degree in BA (Hons) Government, Management and Public Policy.

Dan Warburton, Global Partnerships Officer
Dan Warburton is one of our Global Partnerships Officer’s within the Global Partnerships Unit at DMU.
Helping to co-ordinate the University’s engagement with transnational education (TNE) and overseas recruitment partnerships, his key areas include franchise arrangements and progression agreements.
Dan joined DMU in September 2019 having spent several years within commercial key account management roles both in wholesale distribution and logistics, as well as in partnerships with the National Health Service (NHS).
Dan graduated from the University of Gloucestershire with a BA in English Literature with Religion, Philosophy, and Ethics. He also holds an MA in Philosophy from the University of Birmingham.

Katie Warren, Global Partnerships Officer
Katie Warren is a Global Partnerships Officer within the Global Partnership Unit at DMU. Helping to co-ordinating the University’s engagement with transnational education (TNE) and overseas recruitment partnerships, her key areas include franchise arrangements and progression agreements.
Katie joined DMU in April 2018 and has worked in further and higher education within Academic Services and Registry Services.
Katie graduated from Nottingham Trent University where she studied BSc (Hons) Sports Science and Management.

Patrizia Deidda, Global Partnerships Officer
Patrizia Deidda is a Global Partnerships Officer within the Global Partnership Unit at DMU. Helping to co-ordinating the university’s engagement with Transnational Education (TNE) and overseas recruitment partnerships, her key areas include franchise arrangements and progression agreements.
Patrizia joined the team in September 2019 and has previously been working with the Global Mobility office here at DMU.
Patrizia holds a Bachelor's degree in Art & Tourism from the University of Cagliari in Italy, and a Master's in International Relations from Nottingham Trent University.

Anna Arveschoug-Harby, Global Partnerships Administrator
Anna Arveschoug-Harby works as the Global Partnerships Administrator to provide administrative support to the Director of Global Partnerships and other members of the Global Partnerships Unit.
Amongst a variety of jobs, Anna is responsible for UK/EU and non UK travel arrangements and financial transaction record-keeping. Anna has been working in various supporting roles since joining DMU in June 2017.
Anna holds a Bachelor in Commercial French and International Trade from Ostfold University College and a HND in Industrial and Organisational Psychology from University of Bergen, both in Norway.

Duncan Hepworth, Partnerships Development Manager
Duncan Hepworth works as Partnership Development Manager within the Global Partnership Unit and is responsible for identifying and developing new Transnational Education Partnerships. Duncan’s geographic area includes Africa, South East and East Asia and the Americas.
Duncan has over 20 years’ experience within the education sector both in the UK and overseas and has been with DMU since December 2017.
Before working at DMU, Duncan has worked in international higher and secondary education recruitment with education institutions and recruitment agents around the world for over five years.

Gordon Boyes, Partnerships Development Manager
Gordon Boyes works as Partnerships Development Manager within the Global Partnership Unit and is responsible for identifying and developing new Transnational Education (TNE) partnerships. Gordon’s geographic area includes Africa, Middle East and Central Asia.
Prior to joining GPU, Gordon worked for over four years at DMU in the field of international student recruitment across several markets. Before this, he worked in China as a Medical English instructor and IELTS trainer.
Gordon graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a first class honours degree in International Business Studies and Chinese.

Allister Smeeton, Head of Strategic Initiatives
Allister Smeeton is Head of Global Strategic Initiatives within the Global Partnerships Unit and is responsible for large-scale international strategic projects, such as Joint Schools and International Branch Campuses.
He also has operational responsibility for DMU’s international pathway college (De Montfort University International College, DMUIC).
Before joining DMU in 2018, Allister had worked at the University of Nottingham and at the University of Leicester in a range of commercially-focused roles. Prior to this, he had set up and run a number of high-tech start-up companies in the IT sector.
Allister graduated from the University of Leicester with a BSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Computational Chemistry.
Allister Smeeton works as Head of Strategic Initiatives within the Global Partnerships Unit.
