Thai students are being offered support to study postgraduate courses at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) through a new series of scholarships.
The university is strengthening its ties with Thailand, offering seven scholarships through its partnership with the country’s biggest travel retail group, King Power.
The offer will give exceptional Thai students the opportunity to study with DMU, which is the official higher education partner of Premier League champions Leicester City. Leicester City has a huge Thai following through the club’s owners King Power.

James Gardner, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Strategic and International Partnerships at DMU, said: “These scholarships will be awarded to exceptional candidates residing in Thailand who have applied to study a master’s degree at DMU.
“International students make a very significant contribution to DMU in almost every way and diversity on campus is what makes DMU such a rich and unique place to study. DMU enjoys particularly strong links with Thailand, with around 50 Thai students having studied at DMU in the past five years. We’re very proud of all of them and look forward to welcoming more in the months and years to come.”
Mr. Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Chief Executive Officer, King Power Group and Vice Chairman of Leicester City FC said: “King Power has unwavering commitment to continue corporate social responsibility activities and awareness of education support.
“The company believes that the new Leicester City King Power scholarships to study at De Montfort University will give great opportunity and strengthen education for interested persons, employees or their families' members of King Power to enhance the capabilities.”
“In addition to knowledge and certificates of graduation by studying abroad, the students will get beneficial experiences in foreign country. As a result, they can apply and extend their knowledge to further develop themselves, society and the country at large.”
Scholarship applicants must hold an offer of study at DMU for January 2018, and will need to complete a 500 word statement in order to apply.
